The fame of Toirano rests on its grottos, which are among the biggest in Italy. One of its other important sights is the footprint of a Cro-Magnon man, who was hunting a bear there around 12,000 years B.C.
Toirano itself is a small town three kilometres inland in the valley of the river Torrente.
The old town dates back to the Middle Ages. You will be delighted by a stroll through the narrow, winding streets.
