Zoagli

Zoagli’s emblems are the two fortified towers which were built in the 15th century, which grace not only the town’s skyline but also the coat of arms. The tower with a blue background stands for the seafarers and the one with a yellow background stands for the weavers.

Silk was already woven in Zoagli in the Middle Ages and velvet in the 16th century. Unfortunately there are only two weaving mills left today that carry out this craft, the Ditta Gaggioli and the Ditta Cordani.

In the eastern fortified tower which was restored in the 18th century, mainly exhibitions and cultural events take place there today, apart from marriage ceremonies.

The western fortified tower with the Canevaro castle is, however, in private ownership, and can be rented for celebrations. The promenade which hangs like a stone balcony between the sky and the sea is attractive for lovely walks.
